Medical device industry is among the top three industries globally where there is always a demand of quality and price effective medical devices keeping in my mind the fast moving lifestyle of the people and rising healthcare issues thereon.
Nonetheless, medical technology has made the need of low cost, efficient, compact, regulatory compliant products possible for the world. The ever evolving, relentless, on-going research by scientists have made diagnosis, treatment and procedures very effective, predictable.
It will be appropriate to mention that post 1st October’2022 after MDR Act. Indian Medical Devices industry has seen a drastic change in terms of manufacturing processes, regulatory compliances, data analysis thereby reducing the import dependency from China and other countries.
MDR Act in one way or the other has paved the way for a new manufacturing concept in in India, add to it the growing credibility of Indian companies on the global platform, assuring and offering legal protections to ensure that the medical items sold in India are reliable and International Compliant. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) collaborated with Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT’s) to establish ‘ICMR at IIT’s’ by setting up Centres of Excellence (CoE) for Make-in-India product development and commercialisation in the medical devices space.
By rough estimates the medical devices sector in India is projected to reach 50 Billion US$ by end of fiscal year 2025.
